Region 12824 [N19W66] changed significantly as the two largest penumbrae merged and formed a magnetic delta. A C9.4 long duration proton flare peaked at 23:13 UT. Strong coronal dimming was observed far from the eruption site and well into the eastern hemisphere. There s a 6-hour data gap in LASCO imagery after this event, and it is uncertain if the associated CME had any Earth directed component.
