Long Jupiter -72 area 0New region 12859 [N19E73] rotated into view on August 20 and was numbered the next day by SWPC. The region was quiet and decayed slowly during the first half of the day, then displayed signs of slow growth again late in the day.

Long Jupiter -58 area 80Region 12859 [N19E60] produced 3 C1 flares (at 00:52, 04:14 and 10:20 UT). The classification of the region is still uncertain as there may be a small negative polarity spot at the northwestern edge of the main penumbra.

Long Jupiter -30 area 150Region 12859 [N18E33] decayed slowly. The region has weak polarity intermixing. The region produced a C1.5 flare at 14:49 UT. A B8.8 flare peaking at 12:16 triggered a filament eruption, which was associated with an EIT wave and a CME.

Long Jupiter -4 area 90Region 12859 [N18E08] developed as new flux emerged. The region produced a C3 flare at 18:18 UT which triggered a filament eruption. An EIT wave covering a large part of the visible disk was observed afterwards. A faint full halo CME could be seen in LASCO imagery. Further C class flares are possible.
